The Reasons for Keeping Up

Flickr and Big Huge Labs

Tomorrow, I'm introducing my students to Flickr and Big Huge Labs. I think showing them the Common Craft video about online photo sharing will be a good intro. Here's the link: http://www.commoncraft.com/photosharing

What Have I Done?

I think I've created a "monster" Most of my kids are blogging like crazy and some are just getting started. It's still a struggle to keep them on task, but they are finding gadgets and embedding them into their blogs with such ease - I'm amazed. Creating avatars has been a challenge - they can't save them unless they have an account. So we've taken screen shots and then added them to their blogs. It's the same with Voki. Voki would not let them create an account if under the age of 13. What a perfect activity to do with a parent.

One activity I'd like to add to Teen Learning 2.0 is Shelfari. Our school is an AR school - Shelfari would be a perfect way for them to keep track of what they have read.

Adding Pictures?

I tried to add a picture of my dog as a post. I couldn't figure out how to paste/embed the photo into the body of the post. I'm sure there is a way - I'll have to ask one of my students. Sometimes I think I learn more from them than the other way around.

Spider

Can you tell I'm getting ready for Halloween?  Just playing with some of the widgets my students have found while exploring the Web.

Keeping Up

I've introduced the students in my elective rotation to blogging. They have taken to it like a duck to water. I've started this blog to try and keep up with what they are doing and accomplishing. I'd also like them to have a place to comment on their experiences. They are finding the most incredible ways to customize their blogs and explore their creativity.
